If your home’s electrical panel and
Interlock Kit are located on the outside of your home, close to your portable
generator, you won’t need an inlet box. But electrical panels aren’t always
located outside. If your panel is in your garage, your basement, or elsewhere
in your home, connecting your outdoor portable generator may not be easy or convenient.
In cases like this, an inlet box may be what
you need. Outdoor inlet boxes connect to indoor electrical panels, bridging the
gap between the inside your home and the outside.
Instead of trying to connect your outdoor generator to an indoor panel, you can
connect to an inlet box that’s also conveniently located outside.
